What can you do about your child’s sleep anxiety?

A common problem when combining households is sleep anxiety. One or more of the children, especially young children, may have difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep. So what can you do, as parents?

If there were just one reason this happens the answer would be simple, but of course that’s not the case. There are many reasons children can become anxious about going to sleep at night, PARTICULARLY in a new house, while adjusting to a new parent or new rules, while grieving the loss of the old house or other parent, when starting a new school, or having nightmares about past events or future fears.

There are also physical reasons for sleep anxiety and sleep problems. A myriad of things from hypersensitivity to sound or light, allergies to the new environment, over stimulation, dietary deficiencies, ADHD, can cause sleep problems in children.

That’s why I offer special problem-solving sessions at Step By Step Family Coaching. Sometimes just one session with an objective coach asking the right questions (me, of course!) is enough to get a handle on what’s causing the problem and how to solve it. Other times it may require a series of counseling sessions with you and/or your child, maybe even the whole family.

If you’re dealing with a child who has sleep anxiety, I invite you to call me for a free consultation, or book an appointment to meet with me in person or online. I can talk with you on the phone, Skype, or FaceTime. Schedule a session directly from my website or email me at Edina@StepbyStepFamilyCoaching.com
